SPARTA WHITE COUNTY FAMILY YMCA

Celebrating 25 Years as the Sparta White County Family YMCA

In 1990, Mayor Bob Breeding and vice Mayor Margaret Pearson decided to turn the original West Sparta Elementary School into a City of Sparta Recreational Center. Their mission was to serve human needs in greater purpose by providing quality programs that promote lifelong personal growth and the balanced development of spirit, mind, and body for all. In 1992, the City of Sparta Recreational Center was transformed into the Sparta White County Family YMCA. Our local city government charted the YMCA on March 24th, 1992, which made the Sparta White County Family YMCA officially validated to function in the name of the YMCA.

REACHING

OUT TO THE

COMMUNITY

The Y is for every member of the family. For in house activities, we have Kid Zone for infants to twelve year olds. Youth Sports for ages 4 through 13. Teenagers can play basketball in the gymnasium. Adults can take advantage of our fitness gym and fitness classes. The entire family can enjoy splashing in the outdoor swimming pool from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Sparta/White County Family YMCA embraces youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

The YMCA landscaping out front was done by the Payne Nursery. Thank you for all your time and effort that was put in!

I want to thank all the GO Pink Ladies and Cub Scouts who helped make the front of our Sparta/White County Family YMCA beautiful! Our flowers out front now make us STAND OUT!
