Strong Past, Bright Future

Since our local governemt charted the YMCA on March 24th, 1992, our facility, previously West-Sparta Elementary School and Sparta Recretaional Center, has been home to a thriving wellness center, evolving group exercise classes, an expanding community, and more. Today, after numerous renovations and expansions, our YMCA supports over 1,000 members and sees over 3,000 member visits per month.

The YMCA states that no one should be turned away because of inability to pay. We are going to make sure that promise holds true. In January 2019, our Y implimented an Open Doors program, a scholorship for financial aid for low income families.

Other programs we hope to enstate in 2019 with your help:

- Afterschool Program

- Discount for youth in the community to access the pool once per week

- Swim Lessons outreach into the community

- Youth Sports: Reinstatment of T-Ball

- Family & Child programs: Parents Night Out, Mommy & Me, etc.

- Summer Day Camp

- Enrichment programs

We are the smallest YMCA in the state. It takes people like you and your generosity to help ensure our facilities are safe and equipped to meet the needs of our members and our community.

Be a part of something great!

Frequently Asked Questions

How will my gift be used?

Donations to the Annual Support Campaign are used to fund the Y’s financial assistance programs for those who cannot afford to pay the full price for Y programs and services.  In addition, the Annual Support Campaign provides seed money for the establishment of new programs and services or the expansion of programs and services to new communities or neighborhoods.

Why should I give to the Annual Support Campaign?  I already pay my membership dues and program fees.

Membership dues and program fees are established to offset the direct costs of delivering YMCA programs and services to our members and program participants.  Annual Support donations are used to provide scholarships to those who cannot afford the full cost of dues or program registration.  All scholarships are awarded on a financial need-based sliding scale.

I am not a member of the YMCA.  Why should I give?

The Community YMCA provides the community with quality programs that help children, teens, families and seniors live healthy and productive lives.  If you live, work, or own a business in the area, you can be assured that your donation is making the White County/Sparta area a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Can I designate my gift to a particular program?

Yes, you can choose to have your gift be applied wherever it is most wanted.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes, The Community YMCA is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.  As such, all charitable gifts received in the Annual Support Campaign are tax-deductible to the extent of the tax code. A reciept will be emailed and a letter will be given upon request.
